This past Sunday, July 12th, 2015, the Chicago Bruise Brothers ventured to Springfield, IL to take on their rivals, the Capital City Hooligans. The two teams last met in April 2014 when the Bros held on for a nine point victory, at home at Lombard Roller Rink, to claim the Illinois Cup. Sunday promised to be another closely contested affair.

After an early tussle and the usual physical style that the two teams exchange, The Bros held the early advantage taking a 81-40 lead into halftime. After the halftime whistle, CBB pushed their lead further, to over 50 points early in the second half, before the Hooligans started it chipping away.

In typical fashion, the scoreline became a closer one as the second half progress, eventually coming down to the last jam as The Bros held off a late charge from the Hooligans, to claim the victory with a final score of 130-128. With the win, the Bruise Brothers retain the coveted Illinois Cup.

Princess A. Pauling won MVP jammer accolade, while The Mandozer took MVP blocker honors for The Bros. For the Hooligans, Filthy Shades of Greg and G.I. Mojoe took MVP jammer and blocker, respectively. This win was the second of the year for the Bros in sanctioned play, following their 243-141 victory over the Milwaukee Blitzdkrieg back in May.

The Bros thank the Hooligans for hosting and look forward to seeing them again on October 3rd.
